A clear example of this can be seen in the hotel’s architecture, and how it seamlessly integrates with the surrounding nature, minimizing its ecological footprint and preserving the local ecosystem. The lush gardens that surround the hotel are not just for aesthetic

Plus, for our guests, this allows for both privacy and an evergreen color pallet for your eyes to refresh and recharge. Even during the dry season the gardens are kept lush thanks to their water treatment system that allows for the waste water to be treated and reused for watering the plants and gardens.
Sendero’s commitment to sustainability is also reflected in our use of as much renewable energy as possible. The hotel harnesses the abundant Costa Rican sunshine through solar panels, which helps provide the electricity necessary for the water heaters. Additionally, water conservation is a top priority, with innovative systems in place to recycle and purify water for reuse throughout the property.
Working With The Right People
To bring our vision of luxury and sustainable hospitality to life, Sendero partnered with Sphera Sostenible, a local Costa Rican company that is focused on being a leader and staying at the forefront of sustainable development. Sphera Sostenible served as the project managers for Sendero, guiding the implementation of eco-friendly initiatives and ensuring that every aspect of the hotel’s construction and operations aligned with the principles of sustainability.
What makes Sphera Sostenible a standout player in the field is their holistic approach to sustainable development. They go beyond the traditional checklist of eco-friendly features and delve into the intricate details of how a project can benefit both the environment and the local community. Through their expertise, Sphera Sostenible helped the Sendero Hotel become a model for responsible tourism. Sphera was also involved in the building and development of Sendero’s sister company, Outpost Nosara, a coworking space also devoted to merging sustainability and modern day accommodations.
